Music: Soty – Malaria

This might have been the song of the year in 2007/2008. Soty was one of the leading female singers at the time, and we all thought she would be the next best thing in Nigerian music, but unfortunately her album was not anything to write home about, and that was the beginning of the end for our dear Soty.

But look on the bright side, she didn’t die from Malaria, and we have this wonderful song that we can jam too for years to come. The song is still a serious tune till date.

Who knows where Soty is now?

2014 GRAMMYs Seating: Beyoncé and Jay Z, Drake, Daft Punk, Madonna & More (Photos)

The countdown is on as we are three days away from the 56th annual GRAMMY Awards. As final preparations are being made, we now have a first-hand look at where some of music biggest stars will be seated this weekend. Announced earlier this week as performers and rumored to open this year’s show, Beyoncé and Jay Z will have the best seat in the house sitting front row.

Sitting directly behind them will be Drake, Daft Punk, Miguel, Timbaland, and Selena Gomez. Katy Perry appears to also have a front row seat, as pop icon Madonna and the Foo Fighters will be sitting right behind her. Cee Lo Green will have a reserved spot a few rows behind Taylor Swift, and TGT (Tyrese, Ginuwine, Tank) along with P!nk will take their seats behind Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards takes place this Sunday live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 8 p.m. EST on CBS. Check out a sneak peak of where the stars will be sitting below.

Justin Bieber Arrested For DUI And Drag Racing

Justin Bieber’s legal troubles go from bad to worse. According to NBC 6 South Florida, the Canadian pop star was arrested for DUI and drag racing in Miami Beach early Thursday morning (Jan. 23). TMZ reports that Bieber had just left a club before being pulled over by the cops in a rented Lamborghini. He is currently in police custody and is being tested to measure his blood alcohol level. His next stop will be jail, where he will be booked, processed and bail will be set.

UPDATE #1: TMZ reports that Justin Bieber was also busted for resisting arrest without violence (he cussed the cop out, a lot) and driving on an expired license. According to CNN’s Brooke Baldwin, Justin told police he had drank, smoked weed and took pills.

Juan Mata: Chelsea Accept Manchester United’s £37m bid

Spain midfielder Juan Mata is expected to arrive at Manchester United on Friday for a medical ahead of his proposed move from Chelsea.
United have had a bid, believed to be in the region of £37m, accepted for Mata, who is set to sign a four-and-a-half year deal at Old Trafford.
The 25-year-old is due to fly to Manchester by helicopter before sealing a move to the Premier League champions.
He has struggled for a regular Chelsea starting place under Jose Mourinho.
Mata, who has won 32 caps, said goodbye to team-mates and staff at Chelsea’s Cobham training ground on Wednesday.

YG has 2014 in the palm of his hand. Last night (Jan. 22), the Cali rapped delivered the official remix to his radio hit, “My Ni**a.” The west coast boss enlists Lil’ Wayne, Meek Mill, Rich Homie Quan, and Nicki Minaj to murder the DJ Mustard-produced single. While YG preps the release of his Def Jam debut, My Krazy Life which drops on (March 18), the kid gets some major assistance.

LASU UPDATE: University Shut Down Indefinitely

Lagos State University ((LASU) has been shut down indefinitely following what the school termed ‘violent protest by students’.

The school management shared the bulletin above announcing the indefinite closure, and asked all students to vacate the school premises until further notice. Exams have also been put off until further notice.

Trouble started at the University yesterday after the VC Prof. John Obafunwa refused to re-open the registration portal for over 1200 students left to register for examinations.

Phyno and Olamide To Release Collabo Album

Phyno and Olamide have announced they will be releasing a collaborative album in 2014.

Olamide publicized the news of this album titled ’2Kings’ on his Twitter. Phyno confirmed the news reposting Olamide’s tweet on his Instagram page.

Both rappers had an excellent year in 2013, receiving massive airplay on radio and DJ spins in the clubs. Their dope collabo ‘Ghost mode‘ is a fan favourite.

Olamide and Phyno received the highest nominations at The Headies 2013, Olamide baggd three awards and Phyno two.
